As we all know that the Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars, are the most coveted and prestigious awards in the entertainment industry. Oscars is the biggest night in the film industry all around the world. Nomadland won big this year. The film won Best Picture, Best Actress for Frances McDormand and Best Director for Chloe Zhao. Chloe is the second woman to win this year in the Academy’s 93 years of giving awards. Judas and the Black Messiah, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Mank, Soul and Sound of Metal – all won two Oscars each at the ceremony.

Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on cinema, the 93rd edition of the Academy Awards (commonly known as Oscars) were presented on 25th April 2021 (2 months later than originally planned) at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. They are presented annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) and the winners of various categories are awarded a copy of a golden statuette as a trophy, officially known as ‘the Academy Award of Merit’

  History of Oscar Awards 

The Academy Awards, popularly known as the Oscars, are awards for artistic and technical merit in the film industry. They are regarded as the most famous and prestigious awards in the entertainment industry around the world. Given annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), the awards are an international recognition of excellence in cinematic achievements, as assessed by the Academy’s voting membership. The various category winners are awarded a copy of a golden statuette as a trophy, officially called the “Academy Award of Merit”, although more commonly referred to by its nickname, the “Oscar”. The statuette depicts a knight rendered in the Art Deco style.
